This was a meetup, much like many that we've gone to. At this meetup, one of my favourite pictures was taken, the first one that you'll see. It was remarkable because there was that choclate lab, tring in vain to get one of Great Danes to play with him. Relentlessly, he would pester each one, who in turn, ignored him. Well, he kept at it, until finally, one Dane had enough, and began the chase. Like many situations, what one dog does, is repeated by many. It's often the case that if one dog starts to bark, other will, even when they don't know what they are barking about. At least, that's how it seems to humans. For all we know, each bark and howl is specific, and the dogs know this. "Bark!" equals "There is a dog over there!. Or, "Howwwwwwwwl..." means "There is a full moon that I see, but can't smell it, which is driving me crazy." Antrhopomorphizing sure is funny stuff. Anyway, back to the story. The one Dane started after the lab, and many at the meetup followed. I happened to be crouched down, taking pictures, when the lab turned in my direction. I had to decide whether I would stay still, try to get a picutre, or try to move and avoid the stampeded coming right at me. One tip given to me is to "be the tree". A dog will not run into a tree, so, be the tree. I did, and managed to get this great picture which reminds me of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. You remember, early in the movie, after he gets out of the cave, and is being chased by the natives on the orders of Dr. René Belloq. That chase.
